Plan your 2020 continuing professional development early
We recommend you plan your CPD programme early in the year. Every January some licensees must suspend their licence or risk losing their licence because they haven’t completed their CPD the previous year.
Verifiable education is training delivered by an approved training provider
In 2020, the 10 hours of verifiable training consist of 4 hours of mandatory topics and 6 hours of elective topics.
The two mandatory topics in 2020 are ethics, and buyer experience. Each topic represents 2 hours of learning.
You and your agency and training provider can select the 6 hours of elective topics from the 22 topics listed here. There are four new topics covering conjunctional sales, AML due diligence, GST, and rural environmental issues.
Your training provider will let REA know when you’ve completed your 10 hours of verifiable training each year.
REA has approved 25 training providers to deliver verifiable training
You and your agency can select from the approved providers listed here.
How are new topics chosen?
REA chooses new topics with the help of industry representatives in the CPD advisory group. The group refers to consumer and licensee research, complaint data, law changes, suggestions from trainers, top website search terms and industry feedback to prioritise and agree on the new topics to be developed each year.
Plan to complete 10 hours of non-verifiable education too
Non-verifiable training is active, structured training to help you to continue to improve as a licensee. You need to keep records to demonstrate you have completed at least 10 hours of non-verifiable training. REA audits a number of eligible licensees each year by requesting this evidence. You can read more about the learning you can and can’t record as non-verifiable education here(external link).
